KFON 2026: A Complete Guide to Eligibility and Application for Free Internet

Kerala Fibre Optic Network (K-FON) is the state’s flagship project to provide high-speed internet as a basic right. As of 2026, the project has significantly expanded its reach to BPL families and government offices.

Eligibility Criteria

K-FON offers two types of connections: Free (for BPL households) and Paid (for the general public/commercial use).

1. For Free BPL Connections

  • Economic Status: The primary criteria is being in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

  • Ration Card: You must hold a valid BPL (Pink or Yellow) ration card.

  • Location: Connectivity depends on whether K-FON infrastructure (cables and local access points) has reached your specific area. Priority is often given to tribal settlements and remote regions.

  • Documentation: Usually requires a copy of the ration card and a valid ID (Aadhar).

2. For Paid/Commercial Connections

  • Any resident or business in Kerala can apply for a paid connection wherever the network is active.

How to Apply

Method A: Online (Recommended for BPL)

Eligible BPL families can apply directly through the official self-care portal:

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to selfcare.kfon.co.in/ewsenq.php.

  2. Enter Details: Provide the name of the ration card holder and contact information.

  3. Mapping: Use the built-in map tool on the site to mark your exact house location for feasibility checks.

  4. Upload Documents: Upload a digital copy of your ration card and ID proof.

Method B: Mobile App (enteKFON)

You can download the enteKFON app (available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store).

  • The app allows you to register as a new subscriber, track your application status, and pay bills for non-free connections.

Method C: WhatsApp Support

For step-by-step guidance, K-FON provides a dedicated WhatsApp bot:
