It’s hard to keep perspective when there’s so much noise going on.
I thought I’d give you some perspective today on rhetoric and volatility. Remember that no one can predict the future, but here are some thoughts.
If you have money handled by our team, then remember that;
- Your portfolio is well diversified
- It was a pretty good year – between 10% – 14% rate of return on your portfolio if you invest in SageView
- Until yesterday, almost all portfolios invested by us were slightly up for the year
- Your portfolio probably won’t be down dramatically tomorrow
- Not directly invested in NASDAQ or DOW or S&P (Which is good)
Where he went down in the market;
“I lost nothing because I sold nothing” – That might sound a little blase and insensitive, but in the conditions we have now, it is true.
When the market is over;
“I have gained nothing, because I have not sold anything”
We only make or lose money when you sell places and so choosing when to sell is critical
Some key thoughts:
- I think “When do I need the money?”
- Don’t panic
- Stay invested
- Invest in a quality portfolio
- Stay diversified
- Keep rebalances close to market – that is, if your portfolio is managed by SageView.
So, what do I do now?
