Sunitha Murder Case

Sunitha, a woman from Thrissur who rose to prominence for exposing the preferential treatment received by Sherin (a convict in the Bhaskara Karanavar murder case) in prison, was brutally murdered in Bengaluru, raising questions about whether her death was an act of retaliation. The suspect, Deepa Krishnan, a Kollam native with a long criminal history including a multi-crore fraud in Dubai and drug-related cases in Kerala, was arrested in Kanyakumari after allegedly assaulting Sunitha at a stray dog shelter he managed. According to reports, Sunitha and two other women intended to quit their jobs at the shelter due to Deepa’s misconduct, which triggered a violent attack that left Sunitha unconscious and locked in a house with her colleagues. While Sunitha had previously complained of being hounded by the police following her whistleblowing activities, investigators are now tasked with determining if her murder was solely the result of Deepa’s criminal behavior or if there is a deeper connection to the powerful figures she challenged through her legal battles and RTI disclosures.
