The video tells the touching story of Maruti, a poor girl from a lower caste who lived centuries ago near Guruvayur. Despite her extreme poverty and social exclusion, she harbored a deep devotion to Lord Guruvayurappan, whom she had never seen but had visualized through the descriptions of others. Her greatest desire was to offer a yellow silk cloth (manjappattu) to the Lord. To achieve this, she worked tirelessly for 12 years, sacrificing meals and enduring hardships to save enough money.
When she finally purchased the finest yellow silk and brought it to the temple, she was cruelly rebuffed by a priest due to her social status and appearance. The priest snatched the cloth and threw it into a mud puddle, leaving Maruti heartbroken. However, a miracle occurred inside the temple’s sanctum: despite the priests’ efforts to dress the deity in expensive gold-threaded silks donated by wealthy lords, every cloth fell off. Suddenly, the mud-stained yellow silk Maruti had offered appeared on the deity, signifying the Lord’s acceptance of her pure devotion over material wealth.
