Kerala Election Exit Poll: BJP as Kingmaker?

The People’s Insight exit poll has sent shockwaves through Kerala’s political landscape by predicting a departure from the traditional two-party dominance of the LDF and UDF. According to the survey, the state is heading toward a hung assembly where no single front achieves the 71-seat majority required to form a government. While the UDF is projected to lead with 66 to 76 seats and the LDF follows with 58 to 68 seats, the most stunning revelation is the prediction that the BJP could secure 10 to 14 seats. If these numbers hold true, the BJP would emerge as a decisive “kingmaker,” forcing the major fronts to potentially seek their support—a scenario that would fundamentally alter Kerala’s secular political equations. Factors such as high voter turnout, anti-incumbency, and the influence of women voters are expected to play a critical role when the final results are announced on May 4th.
