Kerala Ration Update: May Month Ration Distribution

The Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Department has announced an extension for the distribution of April’s ration quota until May 5th to rectify technical confusion caused by the simultaneous distribution of April and May stocks. Following central guidelines influenced by West Asian conflicts, the state had initially allowed cardholders to collect two months’ worth of supplies at once; however, over 8,000 cardholders inadvertently collected only their May allocation, leaving their April benefits untouched. To ensure these families do not lose their entitled food grains, district supply officers are identifying affected beneficiaries to facilitate their collection by the new deadline. Starting May 6th, distribution will revert to the standard monthly quota, meaning cardholders who miss this window will only receive their May allocation, which includes reduced quantities of rice, wheat, and atta depending on the card category. This extension also serves to help those who previously returned from shops due to supply delays at various Supplyco depots earlier in April.
