The video tells the story of Sukanya, a virtuous and charitable woman who unintentionally brought misfortune upon her household by giving away specific items to her neighbors. Despite her daily devotion to Goddess Lakshmi and her kind nature, her acts of giving led to the departure of the Goddess from her home. One day, she lent her tawa (griddle) to one neighbor, her broom to another, and her clothes and jewelry to a third. She even gave milk to a woman for her child. Shortly after these acts, her husband’s shop was robbed, and their hidden savings were stolen, leaving the family in financial ruin. Her husband, blaming her excessive charity and lack of discretion, drove her out of the house in anger.
Devastated, Sukanya sought refuge at a Lakshmi temple and eventually decided to end her life. However, Goddess Lakshmi appeared before her and explained that certain items should never be given away or lent, as they are intrinsically linked to the prosperity and energy of the home. These items include the tawa, broom, wealth, clothes, jewelry, and milk. The Goddess revealed that when these items are handed over to others, she leaves the house along with them. Recognizing Sukanya’s pure intentions and her subsequent realization of these spiritual principles, the Goddess blessed her, allowing her to return to her family and restore their lost fortune. The story serves as a cautionary lesson about protecting the sacred symbols of domestic prosperity.
