In a tragic incident in Malappuram, an eighth-grade student named Tejas from Presentation Higher Secondary School, Perinthalmanna, allegedly took his own life due to mental harassment and threats from his teachers. The boy’s family claims that the school authorities refused to issue a Transfer Certificate (TC) unless he re-took a Moral Science exam he had previously failed, threatening to mark his records with a “red mark” that would prevent him from gaining admission elsewhere. His parents allege that the constant intimidation from the principal and specific teachers, coupled with past punishments like being made to kneel and exclusion from school events, led the boy into a state of severe fear and depression. While student organizations like the SFI are demanding justice and a thorough investigation into the school’s “dictatorial” management, the police are also exploring other angles, including online gaming, though the school management has yet to officially respond to the accusations.
