Mumbai Watermelon Deaths Update

The investigation into the tragic deaths of a four-member family in Mumbai has taken a significant turn, as forensic reports confirm that the cause was not food poisoning from watermelon, but rather the ingestion of lethal rat poison. Forensic experts discovered traces of Zinc Phosphide, a toxic chemical used in rodenticides, both in the victims’ bodies and within the remains of the watermelon they consumed. A critical lead emerged during the post-mortem when doctors observed that the victims’ internal organs—including the brain, heart, and intestines—had turned green, a classic sign of severe chemical poisoning. While the family had hosted a dinner for relatives earlier that night, only the immediate family members fell ill after eating the watermelon in the early hours of the morning. Police are currently investigating whether the poison was accidentally transferred to the fruit or if it was a deliberate act of foul play or suicide, especially since the relatives who shared the main meal remained unharmed.
