According to Chanakya Neeti and Vastu Shastra, several common nighttime kitchen habits can attract negative energy and lead to financial instability and family discord. Leaving unwashed dishes in the sink overnight is considered a major error as it invites the goddess of poverty, Alakshmi, while potentially causing health issues from bacterial growth. Similarly, sweeping the kitchen floor after sunset is discouraged because it is believed to drive away the household’s prosperity and positive energy. Other detrimental practices include leaving water containers empty—since water symbolizes wealth—ignoring leaking taps which represent financial loss, and leaving cooked food or milk uncovered, which can attract negativity and harmful pests. To ensure a home filled with peace and abundance, one should always clean the stove and kitchen surfaces before bed, keep sharp objects like knives out of sight, ensure essential items like salt are never fully depleted, and maintain a calm, positive atmosphere free from arguments in the heart of the home.
