In a dramatic police encounter in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, a 32-year-old man named Mehanur, who was accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a seven-year-old boy, was killed during a standoff with the Special Operations Group. The suspect had reportedly kidnapped the child on May 3rd, later murdering him and attempting to stage a ransom demand to mislead investigators. When police tracked him down and attempted an arrest, Mehanur allegedly opened fire, prompting officers to retaliate in self-defense. A senior police officer was also injured in the exchange of fire.
