This video discusses a shocking incident in Aryanad, Thiruvananthapuram, where a 21-year-old woman named Shamna allegedly murdered her newborn baby. Shamna, who grew up largely isolated after her parents separated, was married to Althaf, an autorickshaw driver and meat cutter. Despite living in a house with her husband and extended family, she managed to hide her entire pregnancy from everyone, including her husband who slept in the same bed. Family members and neighbors were stunned to discover that she had delivered a nearly 3-kilogram baby alone in her room while her husband was away at work early in the morning.
The tragedy unfolded when Shamna was found covered in blood, leading neighbors and relatives to discover the infant’s body hidden under a bed. Investigations revealed that the baby had been strangled and then stabbed multiple times to ensure its death. When questioned by the police, Shamna reportedly showed no remorse and even appeared to smile while in custody. She claimed that she did not have the mental capacity or desire to raise a second child—as she already had an 18-month-old daughter—and felt that the new baby would interfere with her personal dreams and freedom. The case has sparked significant debate regarding how a full-term pregnancy could go unnoticed by a live-in spouse and whether the mother was suffering from severe psychological distress.
