A tragic case of domestic violence has shaken Anakallu in Thrissur, where 30-year-old Unnimaya was murdered by her husband, Sivaprasad, following years of marital discord rooted in his extreme suspicion. Despite having a love marriage seven years ago, the relationship was marred by Sivaprasad’s constant monitoring of Unnimaya’s phone and previous instances of physical assault, including a similar strangulation attempt six months prior that landed her in the hospital. On the morning of the incident, a dispute escalated while Unnimaya was preparing for work, leading Sivaprasad to allegedly strangle her with a cloth in their bedroom. After the act, he chillingly confessed to his mother over the phone before fleeing the scene; he was later apprehended by the police in Ayyanthole. The couple’s three-year-old daughter was fortunately away at Unnimaya’s parental home at the time of the crime.
