This video reports on the tragic death of Jomol Sebastian, a 26-year-old mother from Kottayam, who lost her life due to a fire accident caused by a brief moment of negligence. On April 21st, while trying to light a paper from a gas stove to burn her child’s diapers, her clothing caught fire and quickly engulfed her body. Despite being rushed to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital and receiving intensive care, she eventually succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a one-and-a-half-year-old child. The report emphasizes the importance of fire safety awareness, specifically the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique—stopping instead of running, dropping to the ground while covering the face, and rolling to cut off oxygen to the flames. It also advises wearing cotton clothing in the kitchen to avoid the risks of synthetic fabrics sticking to the skin and provides guidance on treating burns with cool water while seeking immediate medical attention.
