A tragic incident has occurred in Ezhur, Tirur, Malappuram, where a 30-year-old woman named Irfana and her one-and-a-half-year-old son, Aman Malik, were found dead in a well near their home. The discovery was made by Irfana’s father after he returned from the mosque and noticed the well’s cover had been moved. Local residents and the fire brigade were called to the scene, where they recovered the bodies from the 12-meter-deep well. Irfana’s husband, Rafi, who works abroad, is reportedly devastated by the loss of his wife and only son.
Authorities suggest that Irfana had been suffering from severe emotional distress following the death of her own mother four months ago. Despite recently returning from an Umrah pilgrimage with her family, she remained deeply affected by her grief, which may have been compounded by postpartum depression. A note written by Irfana was recovered at the scene, indicating that even her child’s presence could not ease the mental toll of her mother’s passing. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives following a detailed examination.
