The Kerala government has announced financial aid for the families of those who perished in the tragic Valparai bus accident involving staff from Pang Government LP School. A cabinet meeting presided over by the Chief Minister decided to grant ₹10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to the families of five victims—including a school cook and the driver—who did not have insurance coverage. The accident, which occurred on April 17 at a steep hairpin bend on the Valparai-Pollachi road, claimed a total of ten lives after the tourist van plunged 300 feet. While teacher victims are covered by group insurance, this special assistance aims to support the most financially vulnerable families. The report also highlights the heartbreaking emotional toll of the tragedy, particularly focusing on a young girl who survived but continues to grieve the loss of her mother.
