The swearing-in ceremony for Tamil Nadu’s TVK leader Vijay has been delayed as Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar awaits proof of a clear legislative majority. Despite becoming the single largest party with 108 seats, TVK remains short of the 118-seat requirement for a majority in the assembly. While the Congress party has pledged its five seats, bringing the total to 112, the Governor has reportedly insisted that Vijay secure the full 118 supporters before a government can be formed. The political landscape remains fluid as other potential allies, including Left parties and the VCK, have deferred their decisions until meetings scheduled for May 8th. Meanwhile, speculation continues regarding a possible alliance with the AIADMK or the support of independent candidates to bridge the remaining six-seat gap and stabilize the new administration.
