As the results of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections loom, actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have reportedly adopted a strategic “resort politics” approach to safeguard their potential winners. In anticipation of a hung assembly predicted by some exit polls, the party has pre-booked a private resort in Poonjeri, near Mahabalipuram, capable of accommodating at least 100 candidates to prevent poaching or “horse-trading” by rival major parties. While DMK leaders dismiss Vijay’s political entry as mere entertainment and maintain confidence in their own victory, TVK’s proactive measures—including orders for winning candidates to report immediately to party headquarters—signal a serious attempt to establish a significant third-front presence. The election outcome is expected to reveal whether Vijay’s massive youth following and star power will translate into a transformative 20% vote share, potentially disrupting the traditional dominance of the Dravidian giants.
